Russell Stover Forward Drafted by the Dallas StarsDallas Stars

The Stars selected center Scott Winkler with the team's third round selection (89th overall). Winkler played for Russell Stover in the Kansas City area as part of the U.S. Midget League, putting up some impressive numbers: 40 goals and 52 assists for 92 points in 70 games.

"Scott has very good size and sees the ice well," said Stars North American scout Bob Gernander. "There are no shortcuts to his game and he is very determined offensively and defensively. He plays a physical game with a lot of detail and he has good vision of the rink."

Norwegian-born, Winkler also played for his home country of Norway at the World Junior Championships.

"He shows good potential across the board," said Stars Europen scout Matti Kautto. "He's a smart player who shows a lot of upside and skill. He was one of Norway's best players at the World Junior Championships."National Hockey League
